storms of winter
54heavy is the weight that holds us
and into it we must give
containing all the force of life
concealing where we live
the path we take is weary
though we all must travel through
pushing it in theory
is what we are forced to do
burn the sky with fires flames
aiming for the heart
whips and chains will surely tame
this destructive work of art
in the end no plans revealed
no signs that we can see
through the dense destructive mass
to hold us till we sleep
waiting for a friend or foe
in time as far as passing
heartless souls, live in the woe
and their demons; everlasting.
I thought of this as I was thinking about winter, and the reasons I do not like it. The road conditions during these storms are very dangerous. Most of us know how to drive safely in snow, but some people really do not get it. It is time for people to start thinking about everyone's safety. Have a safe holiday season. Drive well, be safe.

Great hub. I can't say as I miss the snow. But now we live in a high traffic area and I don't like icy roads either. I have a tendency to spend those days on my computer writing and reading thanks to hubpages
This hub reminded me of one extremely severe cold winter day in 1984. I am in chills now as I recall that day. Great hub!
Excellent poem. I dislike the winter also but for a different reason. I lost my brother twelve years ago in the winter. I wrote about it in "December is a Cold, Hard Month", one of a series of short stories based on real events in my life.

I can understand your plight as I myself used to live in a high snowfall area, but I would still say that even with the road conditions, and the bad drivers, snow has a unique charm.
